New Reviews - DESCENDED ~ Jett

★★★★★ I started out reading "Descended" thinking the excerpt would be enough. Not! The story had me hooked from the first page and held on tight to the end. (Spoiler alert) I love Dana Pratola's exciting foray into the world of supernatural without compromising a classic Judeo/Christian worldview. Sure there were a couple technical/formatting errors and the ending was a bit abrupt, but these details did not curb my enthusiasm for a fascinating, well-told story. The romance was scalding and the intrigue... sublime. Main characters manage to captivate, yet maintain believable emotions in fantastical situations. All-in-all, Dana Pratola's clever twist on the superhero/angelic theme was a much-needed, exciting, reviving escape. I'm eagerly awaiting the next installment of what I hope will be a long-winded series!  ~ Chana Keefer

In The Covering, author Dana Pratola makes a stunning debut in the genre of Christian romance.

Readers and editors always say it: Give me a fresh voice, give me a unique plot and original characters. Pratola delivers on all these counts, telling the love story of Gunnar and Tessa.

On the surface, Gunner strikes one instantly as dark, tattooed, heathen biker until we discover, through Tessa’s eyes, his layers and troubled but beautiful heart. He’s tormented by no less than Satan himself—but Tessa unwittingly has his back. Tessa, who establishes the faith-center of the book, is prayerful and mindful of God's call on her heart.

Little does she, or Gunner know how powerfully God is using her prayers to literally ‘cover’ his life with divine protection.

Worlds collide—literally and spiritually—when these two meet. In a story peppered with demons and angles, salvation and a battle between good and evil, The Covering encompasses a storyline seldom explored in inspirational romance: the idea of demons and angels batting for the soul of a man destined for either spiritual greatness, or the abyss of hell.

There’s nothing clichéd or formulaic in the way Pratola tells their fantastic love story--and at its soul The Covering is a love story. Its power comes in the way she crafts her characters. Her style of writing is compelling, and she is gifted at plotting a storyline that keeps you flying through the pages to discover what happens next.

I highly recommend The Covering, and eagerly await Dana Pratola’s next release! Five Stars.

The Covering is a well written look into the lives of characters that are down-to-earth, engaging and 'living' with real-life ups and downs. From the first page to the last, I savored every moment reading this book, I absolutely LOVED it! It touched my heart, and gave me a new perspective on life. This author is gifted, and I look forward to reading many more of her books!

Ms. Dana Pratola has presented us with a book dissimilar to any other I've read. Her plot was solid. Her descriptions were graphically expressed and emotionally expressed. The powerful intensity of this book was almost unprecedented. The storyline was gripping. The in-depth look at someone facing life and death was fascinating to read. I haven't read anything to date that explored the act of praying God's care around another in quite this way.

Pratola's complimentary characters were well discussed. They made the storyline even more special. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has either a strong relationship with God or who wants one. Anyone curious about the Plan of Salvation would be especially blessed, in my opinion, by reading this outstanding book. Kudos, Ms. Pratola!

I recommend this book for everyone.

As always , I love the stories that come out from the White Rose Publishing House , they are so inspiring , sweet, suspenseful and romantic at times. Though every now and again, they publish an OMG story and THE COVERING by Dana Pratola is one of those books that everyone should read.       (Paula Phillips - The Phantom Paragrapher)

My first "guy" review!

***** Robert C. Laver: Even Guys Like this Romance

This review is from: The Covering (Paperback)

I am a guy, and a pastor, and I recommend "The Covering" to everyone. Gunnar is a man's man, who tackles spiritual problems and personal problems through the help of Tessa, and the Lord. The characters are down to earth and easy to relate to. The writing style is a page turner. It is hard to put down. It shares the love, mercy and character of Christ without being too "preachy." Gunnar and Tessa consult Pastor Bob, who is a pastor that we all could use in our churches. It is a great story that keeps you reading until the last sentence. Buy this book. Read it and pass it along to the guys and girls in your reading groups. Donate a copy to your local and church library. The book is THAT good!

Pauline Creeden gave 5 stars to: The Covering by Dana Pratola

What happens when a man falls in love with a woman that he thinks is too good for him? When he thinks she must be crazy for not seeing him for "what he is"? When Gunnar finds himself falling in love with Tessa in this Christian romance, he has to learn to accept and forgive himself before he can ever let anyone else do the same.

This book's characters had me thinking about them long after putting the book down to get on with my day. It was one of those books that is just not long enough! When the story is over, you are left wanting more! I highly recommend it to anyone who likes a good clean Christian Romance with a little bit of edge.

Best book I've read that conveys how men think about us, romantically!, November 12, 2011

This review is from: The Covering (Kindle Edition)

This is one of the best books I've read this year, and thats saying a lot as I read- lots!

Definitely the best book I've read that shows how men think, how they think about us ladies, and about life.

The passionate tension throughout the book was believable and compelling. Made me wish I was the object of Gunnar's desires. Sigh.

I highly recommend this book! It is excellent. Buy it. Read it! Give it to a friend. Read it again! You won't regret it :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspirational Romantic Suspense Woohoo!!!, August 11, 2011
This review is from: The Covering (Paperback)

"What do a woman of faith and a heathen biker have in common? The devil, of course."

This book grabbed me from the very beginning and didn't let go till I was done. Tessa and Gunnar seem to have nothing in common. She is driven to pray for him before they even meet - and he is driven by inner demons he can't escape.

This story is well written, with well developed characters that lead with their hearts. What a great read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Debut!, August 26, 2011
I received a review copy of this novel from the author and all I can say is "Wow."

This book has all the elements of a best seller....spiritual warfare, intecessory prayer, angels & demons, and the awesome power of God's grace to overcome and be saved.

If you've followed my reviews, you know that a book has to touch me on a level deeper than most - not because the writing is inferior by any means! But because I read so extensively.

This one did.

Great job, Dana!

Pegg Thomas reviews The Covering (Goodreads) 5 stars

A sizzling attraction, a touch of spiritual warfare, and characters who intrigue from the first page. What more can you ask for? How about the gospel message and redemption? Yeah, it's got all that. Buy this book. Read this book. Pass it on.

Gunnar is the bad boy, Tessa is the naive girl, the powers of good and evil are tugging at both of them. The instant attraction is compelling and a bit dangerous. Tessa walks a perilous line between her Christian beliefs and her love for a rough but gorgeous biker. Gunnar struggles with demons and his past. Neither wants the relationship they find themselves in. You have to read the book to learn how it all works out. No spoiler here!

Just finished "The Covering" and was blown away. Couldn't put it down. This story has some of the most well-handled sexual tension I've ever read in a Christian novel. The characters are realistic and you feel their emotions as they struggle through their journey. I can't wait to read Dana's next book. (WRP Author, Robin Bayne)

Miscellaneous  Stuff - putting it here til I start a page for it, lol.

This song examines the complexities of relationships in a way that's almost too simple, like a novel condensed and set to music. As a romance writer, I just LOVE it.

Reposted from FaceBook:
I met a fairy today that said she would grant me one wish.
"I want to live forever," I said.
"Sorry," said the fairy, "I'm not allowed to grant wishes like that!"
"Fine," I said, "then I want to die right after Congress gets their heads out of their asses!"
"You crafty bastard," said the fairy.
